It was actually surprisingly warm for January 1st, though a combination of strong wind for the outward leg, coupled with judicious caution on the wet roads on which a copious quantity of diesel had been spilt may have dented the speed for many riders (along with a variety of illness and injury). One rider is reported to have DNF'd due to a crank coming loose. Many thanks to Tony Farmborough (timekeeper) and Bryan Scarborough (pusher-off).
