Please note: Last minute information from reports roadworks near North Crawley from 8th to 18th March. It's not clear if this involves traffic control. The NBRC TT Team will investigate on the day and will be at the sign on point in Astwood from about 9am tomorrow.

Welcome to the 2019 series of NBRC club time trials. All our events are 'come and try it' events...and all are welcome!

We're racing on the Astwood course using the version starting in Astwood, on Saturday 9th March, starting at 10am. Entry is £4.00 for members, £6.00 for non-members. In the event that adverse weather forces cancellation, we will announce this on this website post and at the Facebook event listing. Please check before setting out for the event.

All are welcome: make sure you turn up in time to sign on. You'll need a mechanically sound bike and a bike helmet. We recommend the use of a rear light. You need to be 12 or over to ride time trials; if you are over 12 but under 18 you will need permission from a parent or guardian to take part (download a permission form in pdf format and in Word format).

The course has a route description and a risk assessment. Make sure you have familiarised yourself with the course, and remember that time trials are held on open roads - take care and be observant of other road users!

For riders new to time trialling, here's a brief introduction to time trials.

After the recent unseasonably spring-like weather, we were lulled into a false sense of security! Unfortunately, by the time the riders got going (delayed by 10 minutes to check the roadworks situation), the wind was not only strong, but gusting to an extent that three riders didn't complete the course. However, seven riders persisted and I think once round the Chicheley turn things got rather quick. At the finish line, we could see the riders being buffetted badly by cross-winds. We all regrouped at the BikeBus cafe for a warming coffee!

Anyway, congratulations to Steve for the win on such a tough day. His time was really rather excellent given the conditions!

Many thanks to Steph for setting out the signs and the timekeeping. I brought up the paperwork and numbers, and made off with the proceeds afterwards.

Please note: next week's Astwood event is cancelled due to a clash with an event at MK Bowl.
